University Admission Consultation and Test Preparation
Why Choose Hong Kong Universities?
- International recognition
HK universities are well-known and respected for their high-quality research and teaching. The University of Hong Kong (HKU), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (UST), and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) ranked top 50 in the 2018 world university rankings.
Many HK universities offer an array of joint programmes and major/minor degrees for students to pursue various disciplines simultaneously. For specific programmes, students can explore different subjects in the first year before declaring their majors in the second year.
- Medical-related qualifications
Students aiming for medical-related subjects often find the HK route more direct. Unlike graduates from overseas education, HK graduates are not required to sit a conversion licensing exam to practice in HK.
How to apply to top Hong Kong universities?
There are two entry routes for HK universities: Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS, for DSE qualification) and Direct Application (Non-JUPAS, for overseas qualification e.g. GCE, IB, AP).
For the Non-JUPAS route, students need to apply to each university individually. Deadline of each university varies, with the earliest in mid-November and latest in February. Some universities, such as the University of Hong Kong and Chinese University of Hong Kong, have two rounds of admission (fast track: mid-Nov and main round: late Dec).
If you are applying to HK universities, start your preparation 3 months in advance. The key elements in the application include predicted grades, reference letter, and personal statement. An interview is required for some programmes, such as medical-related subjects, law and some business degrees.

The IB was tough and grueling program, but I credit my peers, teachers and the wonderful tutors at Cana for providing a challenging and fulfilling environment for me to learn. Cana tutors are not only knowledgeable in their fields but also approachable; willing and able to answer any questions I had on hand. Overall, I'm really happy with completing the IB and I can definitely say that the feeling of accomplishment after receiving my score made all the hard work worth it.
CANA's consultant team consists of graduates and students from Oxbridge, I think that the team is very reliable, trustworthy and supportive. The consultants organised the tutorial timetable nicely, helping me to avoid procrastination and make me feel well prepared before the interview. Apart from technical support, CANA consultants also gave me invaluable encouragement during the application process.
Cana’s services have helped me realize my dream of getting into medical school. The tutors have given me confidence and courage to fulfill my own potential in a time of uncertainty and nervousness. They have given me knowledge that extends beyond my academic career, I have also gained friendships through Cana’s overwhelming hospitality.
CANA gave me direction in my application process. They provided many resources that helped me understand the complex US admissions process and gave me insight into how university admissions officers would see my application.
