IBMYP Chinese

Language & literature and Language acquisition are the two groups of MYP Chinese subject. MYP Chinese students face two major issues: acquiring language skills and comprehending the learning direction. Students tend to focus on the learning topics, while paying less attention to fundamental skills such as reading, writing, lexical sentence application, and literary appreciation skills. In addition, since both IB Chinese A and B curriculum requires students to produce words of a much higher level, the sudden change on difficulty level can be very challenging for many students.

In MYP learning, student's language foundation must be compacted. In order to achieve excellent achievement in the MYP exam and prepared for the upcoming IBDP Chinese curriculum, the learning direction needs to be acknowledged. In the CANA class, we will:

• Provide model essays for you based on your school’s assessment, clarifying the evaluation criteria for each stage, and helping you to grasp the direction of MYP and IB assessments
• Counsel you to complete the Chinese language program in the process, targeted to supplement the basic knowledge of the subject
• Provide training on reading, enhancing the ability to understand passages and articles, with the awareness of context and cultural background
• Provide training on writing, including genre-specific writing and creative writing
• Enrich basic language knowledge, including Chinese character recognition, grammar, and vocabulary for literary analysis
